Merry Christmas from Patchwork Memories! We’ve heard from a few of our holiday clients today thanking us for creating their cherished Christmas gifts. It’s so wonderful to hear the ends of the stories that begin in the studio. These three quilts were made from handkerchiefs that their beloved family dog Chance wore home from each grooming visit. Chance is no longer with the family, but these quilts brought lots of joy to Karen’s family today. We hope you’ve had a wonderful Christmas too!

We are officially “in” our new location, 226 East Chatham Street in beautiful downtown Cary, NC. We are thankful for more space and lots of beautiful sunlight! We will also be expanding to offer quilting fabric and supplies to quilters in January of 2013 under the business name “Cary Quilting Company”. We hope you’ll stop by for a visit soon!

Julianne's Snowy Christmas Tree Quilt, pattern by Don't Look Now patterns

Avery and "Butterflies in the Moonlight", original pattern

Good news for the Walther ladies! Julianne earned a first place ribbon for Snowy Christmas Tree, and Avery earned a blue ribbon for “Butterflies in the Moonlight”. Julianne also earned the Superintendent’s Choice Award for her quilt “For Drew”. This award is given to one entry by the superintendent of Home Furnishings, based on overall appearance and appeal.

Patchwork Memories quilters are well-represented at the NC State Fair!

Several members of the Patchwork Memories team have quilts and other sewn items entered into this year’s North Carolina State Fair. Marilyn has entered a beautiful queen sized quilt. It’s the first time she’s ever entered anything! Lori has entered a tote bag (she is the queen of tote bags!). Nancy, a very productive quilter, has several quilts entered this year. Julianne has a quilted wallhanging in the Christmas category (where she’s competing against Nancy!), and a quilted wallhanging and bed-sized quilt. Julianne’s daughter Avery has entered her second quilt ever in the youth division.

Best of luck to all of the Patchwork Memories team! We’ll have some results later this week, and hopefully lots of ribbons to bring home!

Our quilting bee took a field trip to Spoonflower today! They are a company that prints your designs onto fabrics (and now wallpaper and wall decals too!). My 8-year old daughter Avery is hard at work on her second quilt. Last year this time, she made her first quilt, entered it into the NC State Fair, and earned a blue ribbon in the youth division! She’s tall enough to reach the sewing machine pedal this year, and she’s much more independent this time around too.

Keep your fingers crossed for her!
